As Head of Accounting, your primary focus is running a smooth and sustainable monthly financial closing process. General accounting is your key strength, and you like to work in a highly organized manner with attention to detail. You value consistent daily routines that ensure accuracy and structure and are passionate about efficiency and automation. You like to contribute to our warm and collaborative culture and care for the well-being of your direct reports. Our finance team is a small team of highly motivated professionals and we support each other wherever needed. You fulfill a crucial role within our talented finance team and you report directly to the CFO.


  • Lead the accounting team (2 FTE) and actively develop, coach, and inspire your direct reports.
  • Managing the full month-end financial closing process and creation of supporting balance sheet and P&L reconciliations for all legal entities (5). Fully own the consolidated trial balance.
  • Managing the year-end financial closing process and annual audit.
  • Act as a main point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, or other related stakeholders.
  • Ensure continuous quality control over daily financial transactions ensuring accurate and complete records at all times.
  • Continuously drive efficiency through automation and optimization ensuring a sustainable accounting process.
  • Maintain internal controls by implementing approval and authorization procedures wherever needed and documentation of business processes and accounting policies.
  • Lead compliance with the business’s internal corporate framework policies and finance manuals.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the finance team, supporting them in FP&A, business control, KPI management, and strategic finance.
  • Responsible for all accounting matters within Effectory and reporting directly to the CFO. The role is internally known as 'Accounting Lead'. 

THIS IS YOU

  • Relevant qualifications such as bachelor/master controlling or accounting.
  • 10+ years professional experience in accounting, financial controlling, and bookkeeping.
  • Running a sustainable accounting process resulting in a smooth month-end close and accurate financial reporting is what you do best.
  • Passion for optimization accounting software, implementation of automation, and efficiency of processes.
  • Strong experience running annual audits and managing external auditors.
  • Adept in managing compliance, tax, and internal controls.
  • Attention to detail, strong planner, and structured approach.
  • Fluent in English and not intimidated by occasional documents in Dutch.
  • A service mindset, you view the accounting team as a support function within the business.
  • An inspiring leader, strong coach, and focused on well-being of the team members.
